Detailed Explanation regarding operational issues
Situation and Status Report – Legero Vlaardingen – 18th July 2025
Dear all,
The following details the reasons for the operational problems that have (and, sadly for some vessels still) afflicted us.
Lockdown
Following a raid by FIOD (Criminal investigation team) on our Kotterstraat premises on 10th June 2025, the warehouse and office spaces were locked down. This meant that nothing) was allowed to be taken out. This included computers and laptops.
The management of Legero went to court to get everything released and on 19th June. During which the Judge directed Vlaardingen’s Mayor’s Office to allow, and facilitate, the release of all items. The extraction of goods required supervision and the Mayor’s Office has, since that date, has only allowed windows totalling 20 hours for us to get everything out. Officially we were not even allowed to select items for removal.
To give this some scale, at the time of closure the warehouse held 78,084 Purchase orders for our clients, with a total weight of 927,138 kg. Of course we have also needed to find storage space for everything, with almost zero notice.
Our systems
Although we had planned a move to bigger and better warehousing facilities, we had not yet created the data migration paths for the transfer of stock (basically requiring the creation of a second Holland Warehouse so that physical stock transference could be managed without any problem). Because we have had to manage the movement administration only manually, we have been playing catch-up to get every item located and placed where it needs to be. Our team are working long hours, 7 days a week.
We have just now realised that ‘goods expected’ within our system, which had previously been available, were no longer available (because of system housekeeping rules) in our system. This is why, for some vessels, what had been showing, is not there now. We are chasing these down on a case by case basis.
Communications
Our communications have been limited. This is because we did not want to say things which were incorrect. However, things which we had been promised by various external parties just did not happen. It is, and has always been, our policy to be open and honest in all that we say to all our stakeholders, both internal and external. This message is an example of the same. We are not giving this as an excuse! It is what is, and has happened.
Now and the future
We fully recognise that the problems have gone on for far too long. The time, effort, and inconvenience that our customers have been caused after the lockdown is totally unacceptable. In fact, Legero is pursuing this situation in a legal manner. We will issue another general statement as soon as possible, giving a full update.
We will be meeting with clients, after operations are again normalised, to redress the damage caused.
