Ascension Day 2023

Ascension day is a holiday observed by Christians around the world and a recognized holiday in a number of countries across Europe.

We commemorate Jesus Christ’s ascension into heaven (as per Christian belief) by celebrating Ascension Day, which occurs on the Thursday, which is 40 (or 39) days after Easter. This year, it will take place on May 18th.

Our Rotterdam office will be closed Thursday 18th May.

In Dutch, Ascension Day is known as Hemelvaartsdag – or just Hemelvaart – which translates directly as “heaven ascension day”
